#13: Sweden – Swedish Meatballs

Swedish Meatballs with a side of Dog Attitude Wine Tumbler

Maybe it was the number of times I visited the IKEA website. Maybe it was because we were having a bit of a cold spell in April. Or maybe I just wanted to try Matt’s Instant Pot for the first time. It was probably a little bit of all of these things which brought me to making Swedish Meatballs in early April.

That’s right, with all the cooking I’ve done I’ve never jumped on the Instant Pot craze. I have friends who swear by it, but I kept it old school for years and made things in a CrockPot. But I decided to venture out for this as I saw a large amount of recipes for this dish that used a slow cooker OR an Instant Pot. Seemed kind of counterintuitive to me, but I decided to branch out and give it a shot. Now I had never used one of these things before and without a manual, I found it a bit intimidating. But all in all, the recipe turned out fine, nothing exploded in the kitchen, and no injuries were suffered. But I remain “eh” on the Instant Pot but perhaps I’ll try a few more recipes, especially as we head into the Fall/Winter. I’m open to arguments/recipes to change my mind on this kitchen tool so feel free to send those my way. Here’s the recipe I used:

Overall Level of Effort: 2

Skill Level: Beginner (for the Instant Pot Novice….maybe Intermediate?) 🙂

Would Make Again? Probably not, I prefer my meatballs Italian. (hey-O!)

Additional Notes: I really should try more recipes in the Instant Pot but not sure I’d make this one again. But if you love getting these at IKEA and you love your Instant Pot, you should definitely make these.
